THE ROLE & TEAM

As a data analyst, you are a member of a centralised team of data-driven influencers, leading the way for how data and analytics is used at HostelWorld, and inspiring our Growth units to action.

Our Growth units use an extensive range of data sources to track the full user journey to understand what is going well for our users, where we can optimise and what to build next. As the data analyst – an individual with high level of intellectual curiosity, excellent command of data analytics tools and passionate about applying data to build solutions -- you will be key to these data driven decisions, working within a diverse Growth unit (marketing, engineering, product and design) enabling them to apply your data insights and models to build a better world for our customers. For this particular role you’ll be solely focused on our Paid Performance Channels (PPC).

In this role, while you are embedded in the Paid Growth team. The vision of the Paid Growth team is to create profitable growth in our Paid Performance Channels (Adwords, Hotel Price Ads, etc). We have many campaigns that stretch across large number of accounts that cover different geographies. We are constantly making decisions based on a number of factors such as available inventory, industry demand, etc. We’re looking for a strong Data personality to help us tackle this opportunity. We’re looking for someone who is intimately familiar with Paid Performance Channels on a bidding level.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Be a driving force on our Paid Performance Bidding Strategy
Embed yourself in your Growth team to understand their channel, data and needs so you can provide actionable solutions to our Head of Paid.
Dig deep into the data to identify new opportunities to create additional impact.
Communicate your insights across the business so everyone can understand them.
Ad-hoc analysis and research when interesting opportunities present themselves.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

MSc degree in quantitative subject
Must have experience in working with Paid Channel Acquisition Data. Preferably Adwords and/or Hotel Price Ads.
3+ years’ experience in an analytical role, preferable in a digital/e-commerce business
Advanced SQL skills
Experience working with web analytics tools (GA, Adobe, Firebase datasets)
Experience of working with structured and unstructured datasets (e.g. transactional, event-based datasets)
Commercial awareness and drive to action data insights in the business
Comprehensive knowledge of designing and measuring experiments
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in experimentation, A/B testing (bonus points)
Working knowledge of R or Python for data analysis and model development
Tableau, Amplitude (bonus points)
